What's New

Chair of ISAWR

After serving as elected Vice Chair for three years, I recently moved up to the position of Chair of the International Society for the Advancement of Writing Research, which sponsors the popular triennial conference Writing Research Across Borders. The Feb., 2023 conference in Trondheim, Norway, was a huge success, and a volume of essays from the conference is in progress. Find ISAWR at https://www.isawr.org/ The next WRAB conference will take place in Sydney, Australia, in 2026, chaired by Susan Thomas at the University of Sydney. Look for the call for proposals here and elsewhere.

Two Book Awards

My new book, Writing-Enriched Curricula, a collection edited with Pamela Flash that focuses on a departmental model of writing across the curriculum, received an honorable mention at the 2023 International Writing Across the Curriculum Conference in Clemson, SC as well as the Best Book Award from the Council of Writing Program Administrators at its 2023 conference in Reno, Nevada. The book is open-access at https://wac.colostate.edu/books/perspectives/wec/

In mid-March of 2024, I helped to lead a seminar on mixed-methods research for early-career writing researchers in Lille, France, with Tiane Donahue of Dartmouth College, Magnus Gustafsson of Chalmers University in Sweden, and Theresa Lillis of the Open University (UK). The seminar took place under the auspices of the European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction, Writing SIG, and was hosted by the University of Lille.
